Why do we need Innovative teaching methods?
The need for innovative teaching method goes back to what we discussed in Module 2 about purposeful learning, adult learners are conscious of their time and so teaching methods that are not engaging or not relevant will ultimately leave them questioning “why am I here.”
Learner engagement refers to the degree of attention, curiosity, involvement, optimism, and passion that learners display while being taught, which improves how much they learn and retain, as well as their persistence and enjoyment in completing work. Therefore, as learner engagement plays such a significant role then adult educators must utilise innovative teaching strategies in order to enhance learner engagement.
There is an abundance of teaching methods that facilitates the engagement of learners with different kinds of stimuli and creates an environment of activity-based learning. We have chosen the top 4 that with the help of digital tools will make for a very innovative classroom; Flipped classroom, Problem based learning, Jigsaw Method and Inquiry based learning (which are discussed further in this module)

ACTIVITY: Read this Article on the most popular teaching methods
KEEP IN MIND how innovative these methods could be if they are implemented via the digital tools you learned about through the DISCOVER TOOLKIT!
